Windows Update — Quick Guide

Keep it simple: patch, reboot, verify. For servers, stage and schedule.

  1. Open Settings → Windows Update.
  2. Click Check for updates and install everything security-related.
  3. Reboot when prompted (don’t delay indefinitely).
  4. After reboot: return to Windows Update and confirm You’re up to date.
  5. If you manage a fleet: stage updates, confirm critical apps, then roll out broadly.
